First Lady Hosts Spouses of Diplomatic Corps at White House


First Lady Laura Bush, wife of President Bush, hosted a luncheon in honor of the spouses of the Washington, DC, diplomatic corps on November 10, 2008. At this memorable farewell from the First Lady, wife of the Hungarian Ambassador, Mrs. Andrea Bors Somogyi was also in attendance.

The diplomatic spouses were given a tour of several rooms in the White House
. While walking past the White House lawn, the spouses saw President George W. Bush arrive on the presidential helicopter. The President waived to the participants of the event.

First Lady Laura Bush greeted the spouses of Ambassadors from nearly 200 countries and thanked them for their friendship during the course of these past few years.

Luncheon was served on the fabulous White House official china


After luncheon, a very special "treat" was served to the first ladies and first men of the diplomatic community. Pianist Roger Williams gave a concert, accompanied by members of the "President's Own" United States Marine Corps Band. Mr. Williams, a legendary musician, was named the greatest selling pianist in history by Billboard magazine. He has played in the White House for all U.S. Presidents, starting with President Harry Truman.
